The name is a combination of the word "photon" and the Greek word "aion" (eon or aeon in English), usually referring to "an age" or a very long period of time.

Photeon is a design and IP (Intellectual Property) company for integrated optics and software development.

Photeon's customers are able to reach their milestones with fewer expenses, and the time to market for their latest products is reduced. Outsourcing specific project tasks to Photeon means customers are free to concentrate on their key competencies.

As Photeon's main focus is on the design of optical devices as well as offering design services and IP blocks for customers, it is currently a fab-less company outsourcing production to experienced foundries.
